While, technically, we aren’t even a full month into winter yet, many of us have begun longing for spring. And although we still have a few months before the warmer temperatures arrive, we can fortunately seek some solace in the bright and lovely signs of spring already sprouting throughout Atlantic City. Those signs are the top style trends for Spring 2013, as seen on the runways in New York and Milan, and now displayed in-store at A.C.’s best shops.
So shake off your winter doldrums and relish in these fabulous first buds of spring and prepare yourself for sunnier days ahead!
Lightweight leather: Leather has been a hot trend for the past few seasons – particularly fall. It’s been seen in everything from jackets to shorts, dresses to suits. For spring, try the latest lightweight version. It’s soft and supple, and the lighter fabric makes it incredibly appealing – and particularly wearable - for spring.
Find lightweight leather motorcycle jackets by Illa at Denim Habit inside Revel.
Black and white Always classic, always in style. For Spring '13, however, you’ll find black and white in more graphic, geometric and colorblock prints, as well as stripes. Don’t be afraid to mix a subtle black and white pattern with a bolder one for a cool, modern effect.

Ethnic prints: Prints are always big for spring, but this season brings about a rousing ethnic array. Look for blazing prints in vibrant shades and patterns inspired by the colors and cultures of India, Mexico, Kathmandu and even Hawaii.
Find ethnic prints at Just Cavalli at Shoppes at the Water Club, the more youth-aimed line by Italian designer Roberto Cavalli who is best known for his wild and exotic prints.
Fantastic Plastic: Plastic accessories are back with a bang. You’ll flash back to the 1980s with this cheery spring trend. This fun retro look can be found in everything from jewelry to sunglasses and handbags to shoes. The bigger and chunkier, the better. As for color, don’t shy away from it - make sure it’s bold and daring.

Going green: Years ago, Kermit the Frog lamented that it wasn’t easy being green. But these days, it totally is! Two particular green hues to look for this spring are emerald and mint. Pantone, the world’s leading authority on color, recently designated emerald as this year’s “It” color. You’ll see it everywhere, from clothing to make-up to housewares and more. And if emerald is the color of the year, then mint is the pastel for spring. It’s soft, fresh, youthful and quite lovely for the spring months.
