Still one of the best
Remixes are good, but the original MIXX is tough to beat. Borgata’s first nightclub was only Atlantic City’s second casino megaclub when it opened back in 2003, and it remains one of the hallmark nightlife venues in the resort, even though many more clubs have opened since. A bi-level spectacle of lights, speakers, bars and beautiful people dancing — not to mention trapeze artists dangling from the ceiling — this is routinely where you can find some of the biggest and best parties on any given weekend.
Plenty of room
Mix it up, or mix it in. MIXX has a lot of area to mingle, from the downstairs bar and dance floor up to the second level where there is a second bar. The bottom level tends to be flooded with people trying to jam the area right in front of the DJ booth, so heading upstairs is sometimes a good idea to get some elbow room, a low-hassle drink and a better chance of starting conversation. But if you want a little more space to yourself and your friends, reserve one of the club’s 45 private areas, buy some bottles and set up your own bar. You can still meet new people, but it’s just a lot easier to get them a drink if you’re doing the mixing.
Top DJs keep things fresh
It’s a club and concert hall mixture. Borgata has never slouched in terms of bringing in top-shelf talent from around the globe to man the decks at MIXX, and, if anything, it has only been improving its entertainment lineup. In fact, Borgata looks at the club as just an extension of its concert areas, and it shows. Some of the DJs who play at the club are used to playing in stadiums for tens of thousands, so when you can see legends such as Tiesto and Paul van Dyk with just a few hundred other people, it’s truly something special.
On the seventh day ... MIXX was created
They mix the weekend and workweek. MIXX was the city’s first club to truly take over Sunday nights a couple years ago, extending Borgata’s nightlife options so that either MIXX or mur.mur is open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. While the crowds are down on Sunday nights at MIXX, the volume isn’t, so if you can be there you won’t regret it, even if it means nursing a hangover at your desk the next day.
Mayhem Fridays
Fridays brings a mélange of Mayhem. This summer, MIXX added another night to its mix with Mayhem Fridays. Featuring DJ Carlos Melange, these parties start the weekend off with a little more showmanship, featuring all kinds of mascots and characters to get people hyped. There’s no doubt these nights are a wild way to start your weekend. Mayhem Fridays will make a move to Sundays after Labor Day.
