One, the dining meets nightlife concept at Revel from the New York-based The One Group, will be the third restaurant at the new resort casino to close and be taken over by Revel. One's last day of service will be Jan. 1.
One will close on Jan. 2 to accommodate a new restaurant concept by Revel, says Revel Executive Director of Public Relations Maureen Siman. Accessible to a broader audience, the new concept for this space will be announced in early 2013.
Approximately 50 people are employed at One, and they will be offered employment within Revel, possibly at the new Revel restaurant.
In October, Revel also took over the operations of Michel Richard's O Bistro & Wine Bar and the adjacent Breakfast Room. The Breakfast Room is now called The Alcove, offering breakfast and lunch. And O Bistro is now Skycafe, offering a breakfast buffet as well as snacks all day that can also be served poolside. Richard still operates Central, which offers contemporary French twists on American classics and some of the best desserts you will ever devour.
One, despite having one of the best brunches in the city, never seemed to take off with the Revel crowd. The high-energy American bistro offered a hip, modern decor that included leather sofas and a bar area with a billiards table and a DJ during dinner and late night.
The One Group, best known for its STK celebrity-driven steakhouse concept, was a great place to stop before a Revel concert to have some appetizers and drinks while you played pool and listened to music. And some of its best items included tuna tartare, crab and spinach dip with aged cheddar and corn chips, the kobe sliders with truffle sauce and house pickles and the prime Cowgirl steak, a 16-ouncer with red chimichurri, roasted garlic and adobo butter.
If you never tried One, you still have a little time to check it out. The restaurant will be offering its regular menu, as well as special New Year's offerings.
The One Group declined to comment about the closing. There have been recent rumors about Revel offering a buffet, a player's lounge and possibly an Asian noodle bar, but Revel would not comment.
