You can lead a person to water, but you can’t make them drink
If you lead them to The Deck, they won’t need any convincing. Situated right on the Sen. Frank S. Farley State Marina, it’s one of the best outdoor places in Atlantic City to grab a beer or a cocktail on a warm summer day. It’s picturesque during the afternoon, and at night it’s a fine place to party. It’s open every day, all summer long, so you will have plenty of opportunities to drink your fill.
Be ready to rock the dock
The Deck has live entertainment every day, with bands that play nightly during the week as well as during the day on Saturdays and Sundays. The atmosphere definitely changes from day to night, with daytime more of a time to relax and nighttime a more lively scene, turning into an all-out dance party on weekends. You can see acoustic performances on Mondays, sing karaoke with a full band on Tuesdays, hear country music on Wednesdays, witness some top-notch tribute bands on Thursdays and party to popular rock and pop on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
It’s always time for adult swim
The crowd at The Deck tends to be 35 and older, with ages ranging into the mid-60s. That being said, everyone is welcome, and it’s fairly common to see a group in their late 20s dancing with a group in their 50s. The common denominator is that people are just looking to let loose and unwind, so your state of mind matters more than the number on your driver’s license.
They’re not real, but they’re still spectacular
The Deck has a variety of cool special events throughout the season that draw large crowds, the most popular of which is FakeFest, a three-day festival with some of the best tribute bands around. The 2012 event runs from Friday, July 13, to Sunday, July 15, and features bands dedicated to imitating every aspect of groups such as Van Halen, KISS, Billy Joel, Green Day, Foreigner, Heart, Led Zeppelin and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Admission is free all three days, and bands start in the afternoons on Saturday and Sunday.
Everyone wins in drinking games
The bar debuted a number of tailgate games this summer, with bean bag toss tournaments on Wednesdays, flip cup on Fridays and beer pong on Saturdays. Prizes for winning include concert tickets, bottle service vouchers, free slot play and the most important thing of all: pride.
