Starting off strong
This is where it all began. Casbah nightclub opened at the turn of the 21st century as Atlantic City’s first casino mega-club, bringing all the elements people have come to expect from a big night out at the resort — a wild crowd illuminated by laser lights and fueled by DJs playing the latest hits through a booming sound system. Ever since, the club’s been degenerating the faithful with that crazy Casbah sound.
Know when to go
Sharif don’t like it, but the Casbah’s rocking practically every Friday and Saturday night, especially during the summer. Expect it to be mostly crowded between midnight and 2 a.m., although the party can go as late as 6 a.m. if people are still partying and buying drinks. If you don’t mind getting there a little early, the club often offers discounted cover before 11 p.m.
Plenty of room to dance
It’s the dance floor, stupid. Casbah has a simple layout, with a large rectangular dance floor that stretches from one side of the club to the other and is surrounded by a slightly raised bar area and bottle service booths. This makes it easy for a big crowd to fill in the dancing space and enjoy the music without always feeling like everyone is grinding with everyone else because they’re funneled into a confined area. This is worth noting and appreciating, because most clubs today feel they need to add tables, ropes and other obstructions in the center of the room that just get in the way of what you are really there to do.
Catch a breather outside
You need to get out more. One of the best aspects of Casbah is its outdoor deck, with its own bar, a smoking area and great view of the beach. In fact, it is one of only three major clubs in the city with an outside ocean view. The section fully opens in the spring and stays open through the end of summer and beginning of fall.
Paving the way for bottle service
As the city’s first major casino club, it was only natural that Casbah also became the first to offer bottle service, which around 2002 was still rare in this region as something nightclubs offered.
