Paul van Dyk, one of the most accomplished and acclaimed DJs on Earth, returns to Atlantic City Aug. 15 for a special mid-week show at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in the middle of his latest global tour.
The 40-year-old German started playing professionally in the early ’90s and soon became a trance music superstar. Among many honors, he was twice named the world’s best DJ in ’05 and ’06.
This spring he released his sixth studio work, “Evolution,” a collection of songs that range from hypnotizing to energizing and reflect a variety of electronic styles.
PvD, as he is known by fans, will bring his august arsenal of dance tracks to MIXX nightclub as it opens on a rare Wednesday night during the city’s annual DJ Expo.
DJ Times, the magazine that organizes the expo, featured van Dyk on the cover of its July issue, in which he says he wants to show American fans that electronic music is much more than the synthesized pop on the radio lately.
“This is something that’s very dear and important to (me),” he says. “There’s so much to what we do, how we live and how we think.”
