This seaside scene remains the same
After a three-summer run as Sammy’s Beach Bar, the beach bar at Bally’s is back to its original self, but little is truly changing at the oceanfront establishment now in its 10th season. It will be open daily through Labor Day, featuring a wide variety of drinks and entertainment, with bar staff dressed in their trademark bikinis. And, while the outdoor bar scene has gotten more crowded in recent years, there remain only two, completely open-air bars on the beach in Atlantic City that will be open every day this summer — and this is one of them.
It’s a mixing pot under palm trees
The beach bars in Atlantic City are probably the most diverse places to party in the city. You truly never know who you’re going to see, with people of all ages, races, nationalities and attitudes. That is probably because practically anyone can feel comfortable there, and when it’s warm out, people just want to enjoy the outdoors. This also makes the beach bar one of the most carefree places to drink and have a good time in the city.
Every day brings something different
Like they have for years, each day of the week here features a different entertainment theme and different set of drink specials. This year, Monday is Latin night, Tuesday features a special guest each week, Wednesday is reggae night, Thursday is rock star karaoke night, Friday is rock ’n’ roll night, Saturday is Top 40 night and Sunday is industry night. Each night also has at least four different drinks on special.
The entertainment is real, and even more fantastic
In addition to the rotating styles of cover bands the bar brings in each summer, it is hosting some nationally known acts, with Fuel on June 14 for a full band acoustic set, Howie Day on July 19, and Sugar Hill Gang on July 27. As for its regular slate of acts, bands start between 7 and 9 p.m. on weekdays, and around 1 or 2 p.m. on weekends.
The booze is as refreshing as the breeze
One of the hallmarks of the beach bar is its specialty cocktails and frozen concoctions that are perfect for cooling off in the sun. Its specialties this year include the Jersey Fist Pump, the Jersey Blueberry, the Flip Flop, the Dirty Banana and the Bikini Breeze. They range in price from $9 to $13 each, feature all sorts of alcohol and sweet additives, and are an easy route to your own mini-vacation.
