The Romantics at Tropicana
WHO ARE THEY: The Romantics are a rock band from Detroit who formed in the late 1970s and became popular in the early 1980s with a string of successful singles and music videos. The band’s most famous song is “What I Like About You,” which didn’t necessarily light up the charts upon its release in 1980, but it has endured over the years, having been featured in various television commercials and films. The Romantics’ biggest chart success came with the 1983 single “Talking in Your Sleep,” which made it to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Ironically for The Romantics, their most famous song “What I Like About You,” wasn’t a big chart hit, yet became incredibly well known over the years thanks to its use in advertising campaigns. Whatever the cause for its success, the song remains a pop classic and will most definitely be performed by the group at the Tropicana Casino & Resort on Friday night along with “Talking in Your Sleep” and other favorites from The Romantics’ heyday.
