WHO ARE THEY: Since 1992, the Moscow Ballet has been bringing the yuletide spirit to audiences around the world with its production of the Great Russian Nutcracker. Over the course of its 20-year history, the Moscow Ballet has boasted some of the finest ballerinas and danseurs, many of whom have gone on to have tremendous careers. Stanislov Vlasov, Lilia Sabitova, Marina Alexandrova, Vitaly Zabelin, Antolie Emelianov Christina Terentiev, Alexei Terentiev, Alexandra Elagina and Antolie Ustimov are just some of the big names who have been a part of the various productions.
WHAT TO EXPECT: This year, the Moscow Ballet is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its production of the Great Russian Nutcracker and is bringing it to Harrah’s Resort for all to enjoy. The show features a new “Dove of Peace” where two dancers morph into one bird, and an amazing Christmas tree that grows over seven stories high. Father Christmas will lead a sleigh as snow falls on dancing Snow Maidens. The production also includes huge silk puppets, a group of 40 men and women, 200 costumes and nine hand-painted backdrops as well as Tchaikovsky’s brilliant score.
