WHO IS HE: Gianni Morandi is an Italian pop singer who became popular in the early 1960s by winning several Italian song festivals including Canzonissima and the Eurovision Song Contest. Morandi’s hits include “In ginocchio d ate,” “Non son degno di te” and “Scende la pioggia.” The singer’s career started to slip in the 1970s, but he made a strong comeback in the ’80s, winning Festival of Sanremo in 1987. In addition to singing, Morandi has also appeared in many films and starred in the television series “Voglia di volare.”
