Look through the headliner listings and it’s amazing how casinos are cutting back entertainment, particularly Christmas shows, which in past years were abundant.
The biggest surprise? The Tropicana will not offer its annual Christmas show. This will be the first time in more than 20 years the Trop will not offer a Christmas spectacular. In fact, there are no long-running shows at all in town this year.
In past years, several casinos offered long-running Christmas shows. It seems like Atlantic City can use as much entertainment as possible right now. Maybe next year?
The only Christmas shows booked this year, so far, are: The Ultimate Doo Wop Christmas show at Atlantic Club Casino Resort on Friday, Nov. 23; Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker Nov. 29 to Dec. 2., at Harrah’s Resort; the Brian Setzer Orchestra on Dec. 1, at Caesars Atlantic City; Clay Aiken’s holiday show at Trump Taj Mahal Dec. 1; and Straight No Chaser’s rendition of Christmas songs Dec. 14 and 15, at Caesars.
