April and its sure-to-be-ensuing showers have come our way. To prepare for the soggy weather, we’ve accumulated a list of where to find the best rain gear in A.C., so you can stay dry – and still be stylish - when it’s wet throughout the month and on damp days yet to come.
EDDIE BAUER at Tanger Outlet
Best known for its rugged clothing and accessories for an active, outdoors-y lifestyle, Eddie Bauer is probably the most ideal place in town to shop for protective rain gear for men and women. We’re highlighting two specific coats – one for each – that are quite suitable for anything from a light drizzle to a downright downpour.
The WeatherEdge Girl on the Go Trench Coat is sleek and stylin’, but also waterproof and windproof for complete weather protection. Raindrops bead down the material and it’s seam-sealed to prevent leaks. It has a slimming, flattering classic fit that’s designed to be close to the body, but is still comfortable to wear.
Men will like the WeatherEdge Rainfoil Jacket, which is waterproof, breathable, durable and windproof to accommodate all activities – rain or shine. The substantial polyester shell will stand up to decades of adventure.
GYMBOREE at The Pier Shops at Caesars
Girls will adore Gymboree’s floral print rain coat, while little dudes will think their camo-hooded rain coat is pretty cool, as well as water resistant. It has touch-close pockets, a touch-close placket and full jersey lining for added comfort. Parents will appreciate they are both presently on sale – the girl’s was $46.95 but is now $32.99, and the boy’s was $44.95 and has been reduced to $26.99
TOTES/ISOTONER at Tanger Outlet
Where else would you expect to find fun and fashionable umbrellas but Totes/Isotoner, the world's largest marketer of umbrellas, gloves, rainwear, rubber overshoes and other weather-related accessories? We are particularly fond of the new Bubble Umbrella ($15). It has a large, clear outer coat for extra protection, and it comes in a big array of fun patterns including shoes, purses, cats and dogs, polka dots and more. It’s sure to brighten any rainy day.
BROOKSTONE at The Pier Shops at Caesars
Even man’s best friend needs a little protection from the rain. Thankfully, Brookstone has the Casual Canine Fleece-Lined Stowaway Rain Jacket to help keep your pooch warm and cozy when the weather isn’t. Your pup will look smart while being nicely protected from inclement weather, as well as from traffic, as it has a reflective bone applique. The jacket zips up easily for storage and also is fleece-lined with a water resistant ripstop nylon shell. An added benefit, it includes a drawstring hood, belly strap and leash hole. Note: this rain jacket is not normally in-stock in-store, but the nice staff at Brookstone will be happy to order it for you. And if by any chance you need to return it, you can simply go back to the store and not have to ship it anywhere.
MICHAEL KORS at The Pier Shops at Caesars
To protect all of your favorite handbags, shoes, luggage and more from the sopping rain, spray on Michael Kors Rain & Stain Repellent ($9.95). It’s specially formulated to protect all shoes and handbags. Water simply beads up while dirt and other particles wipe right off. Spray it on exotic skins, finished or unfinished leather, suede, nubuck and fabric.
SWATCH at The Waterfront Shops at Harrah's
We all know that Swatch watches are totally fun, cheery and colorful, but each and every one is water resistant up to 90 feet, provided that the crown, pushers, crystal, case and gaskets remain intact. In other words, don’t mess with it and you can wear it in the rain, pool or ocean.
BURBERRY at The Pier Shops at Caesars
Everyone knows Burberry is known the world over for its famous trench coats with its incredibly iconic plaid design. But it’s their rain boots that are making us jump for joy – in puddles, no less! The Classic Haymarket Check rain boots ($225) have a breathable nylon lining to keep our toes not just warm and toasty, but super dry. And its rubber grip soles will keep us safe when we’re doing all that jumping.
So fret not during this moist month, because it is totally possible to be both trendy and dry simultaneously. And remember, if it's raining, have no regrets, because – as the song goes - it isn't raining rain, you know. It's raining violets!
