Now that spring has arrived (at last!) and plenty of sunny days are ahead, you’ll need sunglasses to protect your delicate eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays.
Practicality aside, you’ll also want to look cool in them.
So, if, like the '80s post-punk band Timbuk 3, your future’s so bright you gotta wear shades, then you gotta check out the following Atlantic City shops for some truly spectacular spectacles.
AKA at The Quarter at Tropicana
We’re all aware that AKA is a go-to shop for casually cool men’s apparel. But they also carry a big array of men’s accessories such as backpacks, luggage, baseball caps and sunglasses. Some sunglass brands they carry are:
Carrera Sunglasses ($130 to $150): This brand is named after the trans-Latin American auto race, "La Carrera Panamericana," hence the brand's tag line, "Racing Sunglasses Since 1956." Today’s collection is based on their original '70s and '80s designs. They come in a wide variety of retro color combinations and many of the styles are offered with gradient lens colors, taking these retro-looking shades one step closer to the originals.
Peppers Polarized Sunglasses ($42 to $68): Polarized sunglasses have been popular for years with those who needed to reduce reflected glare from the water – such as boaters and fishermen. But now, others who spend tons of time outdoors -- including joggers, skiers, golfers and bikers -- have discovered their benefits.
Converse ($78 to $98): Like its sibling sneakers, these sunglasses come in bright, hip colors. Some of them even have a fun twist such as glow-in-the-dark frames! So even though you won’t be able to see when you wear them in the dark, others will have no trouble finding you.
SUNGLASS GALLERY at Tanger Outlet
While Sunglass Gallery at Tanger Outlet has a fab variety of Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford, DSquared – just to name a few – they are best known for having the largest selection of Oakley and Maui Jim sunglasses around. You also can pick up accessories including eyeglass cases, hats, lanyards and more.
Super glam Jimmy Crystal Sunglasses will protect you from the sun, but not from the paparazzi, who will surely mistake you for a movie star when you wear these. Covered with Swarovski crystals, they look more expensive than they actually are ($50 to $200).
TIFFANY & CO. at The Pier Shops at Caesars
One of Tiffany’s most emblematic symbols, the “Lock,” accents these elegant sunglasses. With silver-colored metal and Austrian crystals, they’re strikingly understated and effortlessly chic. They also offer 100 percent UV protection and anti-glare coating.
ENextDoor, that molto fantastico Italian boutique on Pacific Avenue, carries super hot – and quite ornate – sunglasses by two of Italy’s most flamboyant designers, Roberto Cavalli and Versace. These frames have been seen on many of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood and music (such as Beyoncé in Roberto Cavalli’s, see pic).
CACHÉ at The Quarter at Tropicana
Just in time for the warm weather are Caché’s newest, limited-edition sunglasses ($58). These pretty frames come in neutral colors such as black and tortoise shell, and their graduated lenses come in fun hues of blues and purples. Like many of Caché’s glam items, they’re adorned with sparkly crystals. (See info on current deals at Caché in “The Big Deal” below.)
The Big Deal

Del Sol, best known for its clothing and accessories that change color in the sun, is having a sale on said items. From now through April 30, take 10 percnt off all abalone necklaces and bracelets and 25 percent off all tank tops and long-sleeve and muscle tees.
CACHÉ at The Quarter at Tropicana
Mega sale alert! Cache in The Quarter is slashing prices to 70 percent off on their gorgeous maxi dresses and too-cool-for-school jumpsuits. This sale will last through the rest of this week – perhaps even longer!

More news from Borgata: a $1 million renovation to three Marshall Retail Group stores (all within Borgata) was completed in March.
