WHO IS HE: Before he became a household name in the 1990s, Jerry Seinfeld was a hard-working stand-up comedian from Long Island, N.Y., whose down-to-earth, observational humor was instantly relatable. Seinfeld made his first appearance on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” in 1981, and his career took off. He became a frequent guest on the show along with the other talk shows such as “Late Night with David Letterman” and “The Merv Griffin Show.” Along with fellow comic Larry David, Seinfeld created the hilarious hit television show that bore his name in 1989. Initial ratings for the show were not good, but by its fourth season “Seinfeld” was the most popular and successful show on television. It received numerous Emmy awards and left the air while still on top in 1998. The show still airs heavily in syndication.

WHO IS HE: Lionel Richie initially found success in the late 1970s as a member of The Commodores and penned the group’s only No. 1 pop hits — “Three Times a Lady” and “Still.” In 1981 Richie recorded the duet “Endless Love” with Diana Ross, which spent nine weeks atop the pop charts and became the most successful single in Motown history. By the end of that year, Richie left The Commodores to pursue a solo career. With his smooth, sensual voice and arsenal of love songs, Richie scored 13 consecutive Top 10 hits during the 1980s, becoming one of the most popular and successful artists of the decade. His solo hits include “Truly,” “All Night Long,” “Hello,” “Say You, Say Me” and “Dancing on the Ceiling.”

WHO IS HE: Sammy Hagar had a successful solo career in the early 1980s with hits such as “I Can’t Drive 55,” but it was when he replaced singer David Lee Roth in Van Halen that he instantly reached another level. Replacing a lead singer in an enormously successful band is almost always an impossible task, but when Van Halen went with Hagar they not only survived, they thrived. Hagar’s first album with the band was “5150,” which was a big success and contained the hit songs “Dreams” and “Why Can’t This Be Love.” The next two albums “OU812” and “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” were even bigger with some of the band’s most lasting anthems such as “When It’s Love,” “Poundcake,” “Right Now” and “Runaround.” After 1995’s “Balance,” Hagar’s relationship with the Eddie Van Halen began to go south, and it wasn’t long before the singer was back to doing his own thing.

WHO ARE THEY: Vertical Horizon formed at Georgetown University in 1991 and spent a long time on the road playing gigs and releasing the independent albums “There and Back Again” and “Running on Ice” before finally breaking through in 1999 with the major label release “Everything You Want.” The title track topped the charts and brought the band to a whole new level of fame. Other hits from the album include “You’re a God,” “We Are” and “Best I Ever Had.” The band toured successfully for two years, but due to a lack of support from the label and delays in the release, the follow-up album “Go” was a commercial disappointment. It featured the single “I’m Still Here.” In the years that followed Vertical Horizon released two more albums and the band went through several changes, with only singer Matt Scannell remaining from the original lineup.

1 Cuba Libre has a brand new cool little “outside” bar called The Shack. OK, so The Shack is not exactly “outside,” but it is outside of Cuba Libre — right next to the IMAX Theater in The Quarter at Tropicana, in fact. It was designed to look like a beach bar in Old Havana — which is perfect for The Quarter, since that is the overall decor theme there. It’s only opened on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to close (generally 4 a.m.), but they have a neat laid-back seating area where you can nosh on empanadas or chill with a frozen mojito or frozen sangria ($8.25 each), which are served in adorable branded coconuts. You can even stroll around The Quarter with your coconut concoction.

1 Back Bay Ale House still likes to focus on beer. Back Bay Ale House opened in 2003 as just that — an ale house. While its focus is more than just beer these days, they still take pride in serving some of the best beers out there . You’ll find names such as Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy, Allagash White, Flying Fish Farmhouse Summer Ale, Guinness and Back Bay Sunset Ale.

1 Golden Nugget Atlantic City has two fabulous outdoor party scenes — The Deck and H2O Pool + Bar. The former is a terrific spot to pull your boat up to and enjoy lunch and a cocktail or beer. It’s incredibly colorful with bright, cheerily hued umbrellas in blue, red and green and an enviable view of the marina. The latter is more of a daylife scene for relaxing with the beautiful people. It’s littered with sleek lounge chairs and chic cabanas in warm reds, oranges and yellows. Cabanas, which have their own TVs and refrigerators, can be rented for the day or week — price upon request. On Saturdays and Sundays at H2O you’ll find the hottest local DJs such as Chris Devine.

1 The world’s top DJs play here. Some of the biggest names in the music world — when it comes to disc jockeys, at least — play at HQ Beach Club. We’re talking names such as American-born Armand Van Helden, Steve Aoki and Kaskade; Dutch DJs Sander van Doorn and Tiesto; Tommy Trash from Australia and so many more. The DJs get propped up in their own booth and spin international electronic music from a state-of-the-art sound system with an equally high-tech LED screen. DJs generally begin to spin in the mid-afternoon and go until whenever the party stops.

1 It’s a beach bar that’s open 365 days a year. There aren’t too many beach bars in Atlantic City that remain open year-round. But Landshark Bar & Grill in front of Resorts Casino Hotel does. With a full-service outdoor bar, cornhole games and a gas fire pit, you can bring your own beach chair and enjoy a cocktail in the sand any time of the year. It’s also a fully functioning enclosed bar and restaurant with a covered deck. So you can stay warm in the offseason, but still go outside for photo ops if you want — even in the colder weather. In fact, this past winter Landshark was packed with wanna-be photogs who just had to capture an image of the winter’s main attraction — snow on the sand.

1 They have about 10,000 square feet of sand. What makes Bar Anticipation Beach Bar (commonly referred to as Bar A) at Trump Plaza different from other beach bars, is that they have roughly 10,000 square feet of sand and palm trees — making it the largest beach bar in A.C., at about twice the size of the second biggest. You feel as if you’re in an island oasis. The place is loaded with ample seating from an assortment of beach and lounge chairs, as well as adirondacks. So you can literally sit in the sand and view the ocean as their wait staff serves you beachy favorites such as grilled fish tacos ($15), which are three flour tortillas filled with grilled ahi tuna, shredded cabbage, tomato, avocado and wasabi, or the “Bar A” Burger ($11), which is 8 ounces of chopped sirloin topped with sauteed onions, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon and American cheese.

1 They focus on “daylife” — not nightlife. The overall theme at Cabana Club at The Chelsea is to celebrate “daylife,” not nightlife. The pool at Cabana Club is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, but the party really gets kicking on Saturdays and Sundays when the DJ spins noon to 5 p.m. DJs who perform at this “day club” include regional favorites DJ Sinatra, DJ Dramatic and DJ Vito G. This is a 21 or older pool with a top-notch club vibe. If nightlife is more your thing though, you can rent out the space any evening for your private party.
